Data Use Polices:
- The Power Forecasting Group can provide a subset of archived UA WRF weather forecast data upon reasonable request at no charge. Either a subset in space (reduced domain), a select few variables, or a few forecast initializations can be requested. The time needed to fulfill the request will depend on the size of the subset. We have GFS-UA WRF forecast data archived since 2017, and HRRR-UA WRF forecast data since November 2021. Power forecast data is confidential and cannot be shared.
- We invite interested parties to participate in the co-development of the UA WRF weather forecast system by becoming a stakeholder. Stakeholders will be provided with real-time access to the gridded forecast data and can request specific products or changes to products on offer. In return, we ask stakeholders to support us in creating the UA WRF forecast data and products. Support can range from a financial stake in UA WRF to promotion of UA WRF through public use of the data or derived forecast products.
- We ask researchers who wish to include our forecast data or products in research proposals to contact us before submitting a proposal or letter of intent. A minimum of 2 weeks is needed to review proposal documents. This allows us to ensure that data usage and the researchers' time are properly accounted for in the proposal.
- We encourage the use of forecast products available on this website in public communications, social media, and the press. We ask that you please credit the UofA Power Forecasting Group and include a link to this website.
